David LaVance is the President and CEO and a member of the board of directors of XinVivo. Mr. LaVance holds a B.A., cum laude, from Furman University and a J.D. from the Washington College of Law of the American University. Before joining the XinVivo team in 2018, he was the Chairman of the Board of Hologic, Inc., a major medical device company, and a co-founder of Century Capital Associates LLC. Prior to co-founding Century Capital, Mr. LaVance was a Managing Director of KPMG Health Ventures, a consulting group providing M&A, licensing and strategic advisory services. Before joining KPMG Health Ventures, he was a founder of Physicians Data Corporation, a startup health informatics company (1994) and the President of Nuclear Care, Inc., a nuclear imaging clinical services provider (1992–1995). For both companies, he raised venture capital and recruited management. Mr. LaVance was the President of Dornier Medical Systems (Japan), Inc., a subsidiary of DaimlerBenz AG, and held a series of operating positions with Dornier in the United States (1987-1992). Dornier was the inventor of and world market leader in lithotripter technologies.
Tom Gifford, CFO
Tom Gifford is the Chief Financial and Chief Operating Officer of XinVivo, Inc. Mr. Gifford received a B.S. degree from Rutgers University and a J.D. degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. Prior to joining XinVivo, Mr. Gifford served as the Vice President of Century Capital Associates, a consulting firm he co-founded in 1997. He has served in financial and operational executive leadership roles with several client companies and has extensive experience in operational management, financial analysis, accounting and budgeting, financial reporting and SEC compliance, corporate governance, contracting/legal and managing shareholder, investor and board relations. From 1995 through 1997, Mr. Gifford was a Manager and Associate Director of KPMG Health Ventures, an advisory group providing investment banking services to healthcare companies. From 1990 through 1994, Mr. Gifford was an accountant for KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, where he provided auditing and financial due diligence services to various publicly traded and privately held emerging technology companies. Mr. Gifford is a licensed attorney in New York and New Jersey and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Betsy Sullivan, VP of Engineering
Betsy Sullivan is the Vice President of Engineering for XinVivo. She received a B.A. in Computer Science from Hamilton College, an M.S. in Software Development and Management from Rochester Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Innovation Management from North Carolina State University. Prior to joining XinVivo, she was the Director of Engineering for Plexus Corporation where she was responsible for the management of hardware, software, mechanical, industrial design and quality/product engineering teams producing products largely for the healthcare/life sciences sector. Prior to Plexus, Ms. Sullivan was with Bell and Howell where she held numerous engineering roles eventually becoming the Vice President of Engineering. Ms. Sullivan has significant experience managing engineers of various disciplines from the product development stage through product launch and post launch support.
